Training Rooted in Trust. Grounded in Science.

Making animal behavior education accessible for everyone who cares for horses.

The Train with Trust Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving equine welfare through evidence-based training and compassionate care.

Our mission is to support horse owners, trainers, veterinarians, farriers, and caregivers in building trust-based relationships with the animals they work with. By combining behavior science with practical experience, we promote training that reduces stress, strengthens the human–animal bond, and leads to better outcomes for everyone involved—especially the horse.

We believe welfare begins with understanding. And understanding begins with observation, intention, and trust.

The 24 Behaviors of the Ridden Horse in Pain: Shifting the Paradigm of How We See Lameness

This short documentary film produced by Padma Video in partnership with the Train with Trust Project features world-renowned expert in equine orthopedics, Dr. Sue Dyson, and her work demonstrating that many “bad” horse behaviors frequently labeled as “resistant”, “lazy”, or even “explosive”, can actually be indicators of pain.
